Commercial & Residential Roofing Solutions in Louisiana

Hurricane uplift and year-round humidity, which punish different parts of the same roof.

Roofing in Louisiana

Louisiana asks two quite different things of a roof. It has to survive hurricane-force uplift on the days that matter, and it has to cope with humidity and heat every other day of the year. Roofs here are often replaced for storm damage, but they are aged by the climate long before the storm arrives.

That combination means the storm rarely destroys a roof in good condition. It finds the roof that was already tired, already had a lifted edge, already had a flashing that had been moving for two summers.

What matters on a Louisiana roof

  • Uplift-rated edge metal, nailing and deck attachment
  • Secondary water barriers for the window after a storm
  • Ventilation and condensation control in humid conditions
  • Emergency response and tarping through storm season

Uplift, and the humidity underneath

Uplift resistance comes from the edges inward: drip edge fastening, first-course nailing, deck attachment. Get those right and a covering will stay on through wind that removes a poorly detailed roof entirely.

The humidity problem is separate and slower. Warm moist air moving into a cool attic condenses, and decking that stays damp loses strength quietly for years. Ventilation and a proper vapor strategy matter as much here as anything on the outside of the roof.

Roofing questions in Louisiana

Edge detail and attachment, more than the covering. Wind peels from edges and corners, so drip edge fastening, first-course nailing and deck attachment are what decide whether a roof stays on.

Yes, slowly and invisibly. Warm moist air condensing in a cool attic keeps sheathing damp, and damp sheathing loses strength over years. We look at the underside of the deck during inspection for exactly this reason.
