Vinyl Siding Installation Services

Insulated and standard vinyl panel, hung so it can move the way it needs to.

Vinyl Siding Installation Services

Vinyl is the most widely installed siding in the country for good reasons: it is economical, it does not need painting, and modern insulated panels perform far better than the thin product that gave vinyl its reputation decades ago.

It is also the siding most often installed badly, and almost always in the same way. Vinyl expands and contracts significantly with temperature, and if it is nailed tight it buckles, waves and pulls at the corners within a couple of seasons. Hung correctly it stays flat for decades.

What we install

  • Insulated vinyl panel and standard hollow-back panel
  • A full color range, including darker fade-resistant finishes
  • Matched corner posts, J-channel and trim accessories
  • Nailing centered in the slot and left loose for movement
  • Correct laps, starter strip and flashing at every opening

Insulated panel or standard?

Insulated vinyl has a contoured foam backing bonded to the panel. It adds some R-value, but the bigger practical differences are that it sits flatter against the wall, sounds and feels more solid, and is much more resistant to the wavy look that hollow-back vinyl develops on an uneven wall.

On a house with old, slightly irregular sheathing, insulated panel is usually worth the difference for appearance alone.

The details that decide how vinyl ages

Nails centered in the slot rather than at one end. Nails left just loose enough that the panel can slide. A gap left at every corner post and J-channel for expansion. Panels never stretched to meet a mark. None of it is difficult, and all of it is what separates vinyl that still looks flat in fifteen years from vinyl that waves by year three.

Because vinyl is the cheapest product on the wall, it attracts the fastest work. That is a pity, since the material itself will comfortably outlast a careless installation.

Questions about vinyl siding installation services

Thirty to forty years is realistic for a quality panel installed properly. Installation quality affects that lifespan more than the grade of the panel does.

Some fading over decades is normal, most noticeably on south-facing walls and on darker colors. Modern fade-resistant formulations have improved this considerably and carry warranties covering it.

For appearance and solidity on an uneven wall, usually yes. Treat the added R-value as a bonus rather than the reason, as it is real but modest.
